Community GEMs (Going the Extra Mile) Volunteer Recognition Program
In honor of Older Americans’ Month, we will be celebrating Aging Well Month from May 1 through May 26. This month-long celebration is organized by community volunteers and spearheaded by Aging Care Connections. It will include informational seminars, activities and fun events with the goal of helping older adults to age well in our communities. But most importantly, it will highlight the Community GEMs (Going the Extra Mile) volunteer recognition program. This program will distinguish and celebrate the volunteer efforts of individuals aged 60+ making their communities great places to age well.
This is where you come in!
We need your help to nominate these outstanding older adults. If you know of a person from Lyons, Riverside or Proviso Townships who is 60+ and has, or is currently volunteering and making a difference in the lives of others, please complete and submit the nomination form. You may mail or email the completed form to the Aging Well Month Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nominees will be contacted and asked the following brief interview questions:
A recent digital photo should also be included with the nomination form. The Community GEMs nominees will be honored at a luncheon on May 2, 2017 at the La Grange Country Club.
Please take some time out of your busy schedule to think of someone who would be a perfect fit for this honor. If you have any questions about Aging Well Month or the Community GEMs Volunteer Recognition Program, please call Linda Hussey at Aging Care Connections at 708-354-1323, ext. 242.
